Default NH boat and MA trailer registration?

Has anyone ever had a problem with this to avoid sales tax on the boat. This is for a bass boat that will be towed all over New England. We own a vacation home in NH but truck is in MA.

We have had our last two boats with NH reg and FL tags on the trailer. Never had a problem. We do have a residence on Lake Winni in NH and that is where the boat stays during the summer.

Thanks, my brother is getting this boat for tournaments. We own a house in Moultonboro, but he said that alot of game wardens are at the tournaments and didn't know if it would be a problem with the boat in NH and the trailer in MA.

You do not even need to own a place in NH to register there. I used to register in NH and run MA plates on the trailer. Never had any issues.

The boat doesn't really need to be registered in any state unless its in the water so its "legally invisible" on the trailer.
