Marine Battery question ?

looking at 27 series marine batteries. found 1 at auto zone that said " dual purpose" with 1000 ca's all the other brands I looked at sears die hard etc . had about 750-850 ca's which is a better way to go ?

I would look at something like an Exide Orbital. It's more money, but electrolyte acid is contained in a glass mat, making the battery spill proof. After having a battery post vibrate and crack off the Delco battery in my car, and leak acid all over, I'm not using any more batteries that won't contain the electrolyte.

I have the Auto Zone 1000 CCA DP battery used to start 1 motor and powers all accessories and cabin power. Works fine.

BTW, the Sears Die Hard and the Auto Zone Duralast batteries are both made by Johnson Control.

Trojan AGM 27 is a great choice, plenty of CCA, maintenance free, spill proof and good reserve for running the stereo.

Make sure the 27 series will fit in your existing battery boxes....they are larger than the more commonly used 24 series batteries

I have been using (2) Exide Nautilus 1000 MCA / 800 CCA / RC 115 24 month. Turns a 454 MAG over very easly. I believe they are $59.99 or $69.99 at Boaters World.

I have always used sears die hard and had great luck. I will have to look into the auto zone warranty.
