does MERC rebuild drives?

I purchased a bravo xr drive off the internet from someone who says that MERC rebuilt it and it only had 3 hours it. After I recieved it, it looked like chit and the serial number was missing. I called mercury racing and they said that they do not rebuild drives(only sell new ones). Does anyone have any idea what other MERC there would be?

What is it? Mercury remanufacturing does rebuild drives, and not any of the SSM stuff, but not for individuals.

Aren't the merc rebuilds sold under quicksilver name? I know that was true with engines but there was paperwork with them and a serial number would definatly would be there for warranty purposes. I know my long blocks had serial #'s and a plate saying what they had done , over bore and crank bearings , crank cut. I think it were really done at mercury/mercruiser it would look like new.

Is this the drive you are selling???? Is it messed up or just look bad. (I've been looking for a cheap spare, can get it fixed, and don't really care what it looks like)

No serial number and stickers peeling off. Why would merc pull off the decals that had the serial number and drive ratio?
