Trim Tab Question
 

I have a question regarding k-planes - my boat is a 32' stepped hull. I have heard some say that they never use their k-planes unless they are in windy conditions or rough water. I have heard others say they learn at what setting the k-planes are level with the bottom and use that setting when running WOT as this 'lengthens' the boat. Is there a right answer here?

James always said he doesn't use them on his AT but I need them on the Formula. Everyboat is different, just run it and figure out what your boat needs.

I use mine mainly for getting on plane, everytime. Then they are just a bump down from full up.

I'll use mine for getting on plane when running REALLY heavy or trying to get on plane in shallow water.

Other than that, I hardly ever touch them. I keep them at neutral, even plane with the bottom of the boat. Mark this position with a Sharpie on your indicator window. Do the same with your drives, and I also mark my ideal running point for the drives.

I use mine for getting on plane every time and when running slow....really helps single engine fountains with big props. Its good to play around with them and feel the boat out. Yes, they effectivly add a foot and a half(or however long they are) of running surface to the water.
