Hull mounted water pickups on Cats

Hey guys i have a 25' Motion with twin 280s on it or a (24' Skater same hull). I need some input on transom water pickups can not get enuff water psi when running them high where they like it! I have sport masters on the boat.

you can run a lead in , directly in front of the gear case. about 15 inches long, and tapering from nothing to an inch wide and 1/2 inch deep

Those are extremely large notches if thats what you are talking about. I have notches that are 1.5" long and 3/16" deep...but 15" long. How would that effect the running surface of the boat.
