Taking the final step

I had my friend go out and look at the Sonic 28ss with the twin sbc. He said it looked good, he took some pics but off course he's not the best shot. I'm gonna go with Bob Gallagher's survey crew outside of Boston, they're more expensive, but they got great recommendations from a few on the board.

I like this boat for several reasons, I'm new, so I don't need a rocket ship to crash or sink my first season out. I like the idea of the twin sbc's, good gas for now, and I can always add HP on later without the extra weight of the BBCs. The boat is inexpensive, it's not gonna break me and it will serve my purpose for learning the next few years.

I'm sure in a couple of years I'll get the itch and move up to a 31, but never see myself affording it. Can anyone tell me what kind of drives these are?

The Sonic 288 hull porposes badly. Tabs needed!

Just FYI

The boat has K-planes, and the smallblock boats don't porpoise unless they're over-trimmed.

My father owned one with BB, and a good friend of mine owned one with SB. We named my buddy hoppy, because it porpoised so bad. I have driven both, and yes, the SB are not as bad, but you still have very little trim when it starts.

I know it's bad luck, but, I'd consider renaming it!

There are a lot of boats that porpoise..... Really just depends on who is driving it.

Are you going to bring that boat up to Texoma after you buy it? Give me a hollar if you do.
