Talking Help my friend make a boat purchase decision.

He currently has a 1998 29 Outlaw with hp 500's. Latham steering KTabs, loaded $75,000 for sale. First he thought he was going to buy a 36 Outlaw. But for the money, might as well spend some more. Then he headed down to Florida to buy a 33 Powerplay. He saw the boat and he felt it was too narrow. While in Florida, he looks at Cigarette. Lots of cabbage! Then he returns to NJ. Outerlimits is on the top of the list.A few boats with hp 500's are for sale used for reasonable money(Low-mid 100's). Still the strongest contender for the money. Today he calls and says I am going to look at a 38 Fountain. It is fast and looks good. He gets to the dealer and lost all excitement, low freeboard etc. Tomorrow I know he is going to change his mind. The slingshot was also another consideration. That boat is actually more money then the used Outerlimits in the northeast that are for sale. Any body have an opinion? 36 Outlaw, 38 Fountain, 37 Outerlimits, 38 Hustler or 38 Scarab are the choices.

In order:
1. Outerlimits
2. Outerlimits
3. Outerlimits
If none of these work, maybe he could find a nice Outerlimits for sale.

I'd have a tough time deciding between the Outerlimits or the Hustler - both are outstanding. Guess it would depend on how much of a price difference there was between the two of them and what year they were...

Must be nice to have to make such difficult decisions...

yup yup and yup on the outerlimits. Its like the difference between a caddy and a geo. Ive never seen used outerlimits that were in that price range though.

Outerlimits is a great boat, but don't rule out a Sonic.

Wink

Outerlimits HANDS DOWN!
All the rest other than the Hustler are production(Chevrolet) sportboats. By the Ferrari.

He should look at our 28 if cabin space isn't that important. Our 28 will run with any 35 in any water and will carry 6 people comfortably. Our 35 is still on the drawing table but should be looking at a 2003 preview.

Hi Ken , I hear a lot of good things about the 37 Active Thunder ,don't know myself .
I think if he can find the right outerlimits ,GO FOR IT !! THe 38 Hustler scares me bad ! There is (about) 1,673,421 of them for sale ! THere must be a good reason for this ! Good luck with it !
