Never had any trouble starting my f350 diesel in the cold except when the glow plug solinoid went out. Ldidswitch back to a 460 gas truck though. Got tired of changing the oil and filter every 3000 mi. This is almost a must you migh squeek by a 1000 more at best. If I had to do it over I would add a bypass oil filtration system and use synthic oil.Another thing would be to use Soltron an additive that keeps the bacteria in check and helps with performance. Look it up on the internet www.fuelpolishing.com. They have the oil filtering systems to they work put one on my boat.

Not sure of your year, but you might have a "warm-up" feature. The turbo waste gate pinches down and your engine will rev to 1100 rpm and heat is as fast as a gasser!

Kentz, 99 and newer have that feature. Until you hit the brake or accel, it will provide this "warm" up mode.

If you are going to let the truck idle for extended periods of time do as Troutly suggests and get an AIC, it is a good investment.
