If they put much more in it you'll be calling it 2 things...first and anchor, then a reef!!!!

CAPTAIN CHUCK 05-20-2007 10:20 PM

What is that, a destroyer?

Looks like a platform for a huge center console.... Would that be foam core sandwiched between plywood plates?? WTF!
So the boat is built like a brick **** house and where are the engine beds? LOL They look like toothpicks. LOL

Mako years ago made a 30 footer with twin diesel/gas inboards in the late 70's that looked like they were designed as ice breakers. REAL stout.

its a 42' rough water pilot boat. wonder how fast if you put in a couple 2500 hp turbines and surface drives???

Yes, I would assume they went to lots of frames, instead of cored, so the boat can be kept in the water without concern for spreading water in the core -- maybe in a frame, but that keeps it localized. Also, easier to see the damage. If the boat is going to be fixed after damage, you want to be able to tell, no question, how much you need to tear apart.

So this makes a lot of sense for a pilot boat that will crash against other boats a lot, and will crash around in very rough conditions a lot, and will probably be expected to have a 20 or 30 year life.
