Labbed Prop

I have been around boats my whole life, but am rather new to the high performance industry. If anyone can give me info about labbing a prop (benefits, cost, who can do it) I will greately appreciate it!

Thanks in advance
Matt

Lake-X tried several lab finished props from several prop shops...York Propeller beat them all even Merc's own. Tommy at Warlock Perf Marine said that when it comes to lab finishing, they have tried several of the well known prop shops and no one that they have found yet does a better, more consistant job than York. We have compared York's prop to Merc's and you can definately see the difference. Also, York gets about $175 per prop vs Merc's $350+. Call Tommy at WPM and he can give you the scoop. Pretty good and concise article in Powerboat magazine, December 2000, "ThePerfect Pitch", page 38. There have been a couple of good threads on this issue you might search for here. I would also search for posts by Mark Berman of BAM (one of our sponsors) and a guy whos display name is SteveDavid. Good luck and let us know if you turn up something interesting.

We have had much success with propellersonline.com, and their prices are great.

I'm getting ready to send mine to York (listed above). I had read on this board that in an independent test done at Lake X, York showed better performance gains then even the Merc Lab.

Thank you for all of the help. My next question would be, is this something that I will notice a difference on my boat. Unfortunitely I don't have quit the boat or horses that most of the members on here do. Hopefully someday once I grad from college, anyway enough about that. I have a 95 baja hot shot with a 5.0. It is stock except for the fact I put through hull exhaust, and have purchased several props to try. The one that I am considering on having labbed is a 19p merc cleaver. I also have a 19p mirage plus, and a 21 I believe MW. Any suggestions for performance gains will be greately accepted.

200 rpm (that would be 2.5 mph with a 19").
