Boat parking project
 

Decided I didn't like parking it on the grass, so I got rid of it. Did the usual blasting of the weed kill, then tilled it a bit. Ground was pretty level, so I didn't have too much shoveling to do nor needed a bobcat. I built a frame using pressure treated 4 x 4's and some landscaping timber with the rounded edges (easier to drive over) and anchored them with rebarb. I went all the way down the side of the wooden fence dividing mine from my neighbor's house until I hit the chain link fence, so I have an 8 x 17 foot area behind the boat on the side of the house done too. I then laid down an anchored a lot of weed block fabric 3 to 5 layers in places and poured about 4 yards of granite rock to fill in. The borders keeps the rock in. Finally I took an 8' long 4x4, split it and then anchored it for wheel stops. I chose granite because it doesn't crush like gravel, drains water pretty good (it kind rains here from time to time) and compacts. After a few park jobs, the granite is compacted enough that it almost feels like I'm backing on the concrete driveway, very easy. When I hit the wheel stops, I know I'm good. I block the frontside and unhook. I have a flushing hose all ready to go with a ball valve on the end, so no getting in and out of the boat several times just to flush it. There's a second hose for washing and stuff. All of this cost less than $400, with the rock being the biggest cost. Shoveling it sucks........But parking the boat is so much easier, especially since I usually do this myself without any help. Here are some pics.

looks good and will work well I did the same at my place before I built the garage......you may have to put some more down in a year but no biggie.......but you should take that expensive prop off when its just sitting in the driveway......
