i have twins and both rotate right
i have an 86 27ft machone with twin 350s. both props are right hand rotation. speed is around 60 at 4500. is this normal or would i benefit from counter rotating props? and should i change the port lower unit to turn left? thanks for any help you can give!

Have you had the boat out? I would imagine that it is quicker to turn one way or the other.......?

I had a 28 Cigarette that was like that. I always wanted to convert it to counter rotation but never did. I don't know if I would have gained any speed, I don't think so. I think it would have helped slow speed / docking handling.
Hi Nort! |
what kind of outdrives? Bravos?
|
counter rotating outdrives did not come out untill bravos came out in the 90's.

"i have twins and both rotate right"
When I first saw this I thought your were bragging that your boys wern't queer:evilb: |
1986, so I'm guessing they were Alpha's. I had a Formula 242 LS with twin 350's and right handed Alpha's. The best money I spent on that boat was a tie bar between the drives. They do make a counter rotating alpha drive.

I had a 90 29' Searay with twins and counter rotating alpha drive. They turned out. One engine was also left hand rotation which was common back then.

My advice... Keep the boat "as is". Use it, love it, and eventually sell it.
You're gonna go bigger in a couple of years anyway! :p Welcome to OSO! |
