2nd child on the way, building new house. One of the "fresh" motors has a cracked header pipe and maybe more problems. I have it at the shop right now getting fixed. I just want to use the boat at Jacksonville next weekend but it isn't looking good.

Yea, it really sucks to get a "new to me" boat and not even put 30 minutes on it before it goes to the shop. This happened on the last boat I had as well, a 2002 Top Gun with "fresh" power. Next boat I buy will have "used" power. It could certainly be worse, it is just a boat.

My theory when I have bought my latest used boat was...
If the mills run 5 minutes after the checkout ride it is 5 minutes more than I expected... And I had budgeted for it... Unfortunately...
Engines that work flawless on a "New to you" used Offshore boat with more than 750HP is, in my humble opinion a Mirage, much like a thin assed, big racked Daughter of a brewery owner I looked for a long time when I was single.
Mills like that are a PITA but when they run they take your breath away and it's worth all the efforts!!!!
