Bad Propeller Cut Sunday, Super Glue it?
I have a buddy that had a passenger on his boat Sunday that cut his shin area on the prop(newbie) it was about 2 inches and about 1/4 deep. Ya could see the fatty looking stuff ,almost to the bone.No tendons or blood vessels were hit.I couldnt get it dry enough to get the bandaids to stick, bleeding to much and it was too wide open.It needed stitches!! He didnt want to get it sowed up, no insurance.
I have heard ya can use super glue?
The reason I am asking if I get in this situation, can I super glue myself or someone else back up if we cant get to a place to sow it up?
Will it work?
How do I do it?
What kind of glue?
Were do I buy it?
What kind of bandaid too hold it closed?
or
Should I get a needle and thread instead?
Thanks for any help.

Super glue? that stuff can not be safe. What if it enters the bloodstream? There is no telling what it will do if it stays under the skin.
Just use duck tape.
FYI - duck tape can also remove warts, but it takes like 2-4 weeks. Just put a little piece on every night.

I use it to fix little bleeders, on myself (works great on paper cuts). I would not use it on anybody else due to liability issues. Don't know if it's a carcinogen, but I guess everything these days is.

I have used super glue plenty of times on cuts. That cut sounds too big for glue alone to work. I would shave around the cut and use butterfly strips. I would probably put super glue over it if I was going back in the water. That cut sounds like it was foolish not to get stitches on. It's going to take a lot longer to heal and the risk of infection goes up. I am just a cut prone, half-a-mechanic, not a doctor, so this advice is worth what you paid for it.

You shouldnt use superglue on such a large, moist, cut. It will irritate it pretty bad and wont be able to seal. He needs stitches, or a lot of the butter fly bandaids....mush be dry to get them to stick. Superglue is really good on hand cuts and splits due to dry skin etc. Small stuff only.
