That was some good flying:cool:

getchasum111 06-12-2007 12:06 PM

damn....that chopper looked close to the boat didn't it

320es 06-12-2007 01:38 PM

That is impressive. That chopper had to be within 10' of the front of the boat at who knows how fast.

RedDog382 06-12-2007 02:07 PM

Guy on that stick has some big cast iron kahuna's! WOW ...

1bagger 06-12-2007 02:11 PM

Doesn't look real to me .

phragle 06-12-2007 02:40 PM

flying lw like that..saw on the news the FAA is looking for a small plane that did a strafing run over a high school graduation droping toilet paper and paintballs......

wigginout 06-12-2007 02:53 PM

That almost looks like it borders on dangerous. I mean all cameras have telephoto lenses. But hey I'm not in the boat so it's pretty cool.:D

SHARKEY-IMAGES 06-12-2007 03:17 PM

That had to be the same pilot we had when they shot the NJPPC Atlantic City Poker Run. They were about 20 feet off my bow at times flying sideways.

With the performance of the lenses today, I just don't understand why they need to be that close.

It certainly was an experience I will not soon forget. :drink:

That was my wife's first and last poker run she ever did with me.... I think she was a bit freaked out by the wind coming off the helicopter and me doing a modest 70 mph... Oh well.

I was easy on the sticks the whole time and it just didn't matter at that point.

Strip Poker 388 06-12-2007 05:44 PM

I bet they got some good shots, itd be worth it.:D

Were is that?

kickin32 06-12-2007 06:20 PM

Come to think of it, I believe it did...... :drink:

Thanks for the offer. I appreciate it.

Any spare time I have this summer I know I will be moving the earth just to finish it all off.... ;)

Tom A. 06-12-2007 08:13 PM

Tim, that's what I was thinking. I remember our shoot in 2003, that copter was about 20 feet off my bow @ 80+. He moved along side me as I crossed a wake and I was at eye level with the photographer!

It's real, ask any NJPPC member from our 2003 shoot!
Seeing it in person is unreal!

1bagger 06-12-2007 09:02 PM

I've flown Helicopters for a few years and If that is real ?
Man that guy likes living on the edge . Does anyone have the footage from the camera inside the Helo ?

BajaFresh 06-12-2007 09:19 PM

Anyone know where this was filmed? It sure looks like the river, just north of Needles.

thisistank 06-13-2007 06:36 AM

That was during one of PBM's speed trials. They do the testing at the parker strip. for those of you that don't know the area, it's at the bottom of Lake Havasu dam.

It's real. this is the way they got that EPIC shot down the tunnel of that Skater (I believe it was).

when they were shooting our cig in San Diego I swear we almost hit the skids a few times while going over the 3-4 footers at 60+. It's pretty cool to be in the boat that close to the helicopter.

No disrespect in looking for this video, curious if it's Mr. Witters that is currently in criticle condition on the other thread. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=168454

Very Talented man and says this video in this link was for Power Boat also.

Obviously takes alot of skill and trust from both the pilot and the driver of the boat. I don't question either cause they are both professional veterans. But very sad day for all, I debated putting the link on the other thread when asking if that is Mr. Watter's skills. But I do not want to disrespect any body in any way shape or form.

But I don't think the average person realizes the work and risk they put into these photo shoots for our viewing pleasure.
And at the same time you know the are enjoying every minute of it.

Jon
