New guy here, looking at a 1988 Chris Craft Stinger

I know a little about these boats, but not much more than the general stuff about the drives, engines, and steering.

I have also heard about hull problems with the deck separating from the hull.

Problem is, I really like how the old boats look, and the one I have in mind is super nice looking, and would like to know a little more about them. The model that has my eye is a 1988 312.

Here's a pic of the boat:

Thanks in advance for any info,

Greg

check out the section here under Chris Crafts.. The Stinger is areally popular boat in that circle. You can learn a lot by asking around in there and reading the posts that are already started.. Good luck and welcome!

She is very pretty. What motors does it have?
I am re-doing and 86 260. Have not seen any seperation of deck and hull ( knock on wood) but have seen it talked about several times. Also read some stingers have problems with stress cracks in the stringers.
Any more pics?
Yes go to the Chris Craft forum or do a search for 312 stinger.
I remember a thread titled what to look for when purchasing ( or somthing like that)
Good Luck and post those pics if you buy her!

Nice looking boat, but looks can't replace quality.

Do your homework before you spend your cash.

get a survey they are worth the money without a doubt. I had an 85 Stinger and loved it, probably one of the best boat i ever had. Chris Craft did have some structural issues on some boats in the late eighties so as said do your homework before plunking down your money.

Wow, after a brief search on the chris craft section it turns out that the boat's current owner is a member of this forum....Small world!
