Please Pray For...
Guys,
We were on our local TOPPS Poker Run here in Houston/Galveston Texas, which was being covered by Powerboat Magazine... During the event one driver suffered from a heart attack while navigating to the first stop. The current feedback is, he is stable, but in a coma. And, if he comes thru the coma and awakens, he will be a mental vegetable. I know we all have different religious beliefs, so, as not to offend that, I will speak generically - We have all seen amazing things happen... So, please pray that WHEN HE DOES awaken that, by some form of a miracle, his mind will be in tact and he fully recovers. On behalf of all of the TOPPS members and his family and loved ones, we thank you in advance. All the best, Joe Pandak |

I was one of those first on the scene at the dock. Latest info is that he was stabilized at the hospital but is still in a coma. It was not a heart attack - he had "pulmonary emboli" where the blood vessels leading to the lungs got suddenly blocked. MANY THANKS to all who helped out, especially those who jumped in the boat and began CPR and drove the boat to the dock. The paramedics told me today that if it was not for the rapid response of those whio got to him right away he would not have the chance he does now.

Two years ago I was called to a terrible wreck in my home town. I have been a FF/EMT since 2001. My patient seemed to be okay otherthan a fracture to his right leg, but since one of the passengers was killed we had to treat the guy for trauma. When we arrived to the hospital I was getting his info and just as he told me the name of his wife and two kids he crashed. I assumed heart attack and called a code. I left that day just knowing my patient died and I felt that I had let his family down. Last summer I wasn't in a OSHA class and the guy that sat beside was my patient boss. Just my luck I figured. We were discussing accidents auto/marine and the guy began to talk about the wreck that i had worked. I felt terrible. He only mentioned one person dying though. So I asked him didn't two of the passengers die. He explained that my patient survived and was perfectly healthy. Mericals do happen.

It was scary for all and the coast guard responded to our SOS calls very quickly and an ambulance was dispatched. Everyone did the best job we could to repond. All of us are praying for a full recovery.
