Ive also heard that 4 blades cad be easier on the gearcases because there is less chopping of the water.
My favorite props were 14.5x30 3 blade Mercs, 15x32 BBlade labed and 14.75x32 BBlade special sauce props. I had a set of 14.5x30 Ron Hill that I spent twice as much getting fixed as I did on the props....JUNK until they were fixed, but the 4 blades definately ran smoother. I ran them if I was worried about hitting something or the gearcases were taking in water. |

My post was said in a joking mannor as I have the 300XS's. S & F does have a lot of info but I wish us OB people would get more respect around here.. It´s nice to blow by a 38+ft whatever with a Batboat or a 3C class Cat... Even Reggie will get wrinkles from his (Big) forehead to his neck. |

Thats a toss up. I do not know the torque curves for both engines. I would think the Verado would have more torque at a lower rpm due to the supercharger.

I've sold 13 of the new 300xs motors. They run the exact same top speed as the 300x's as long as you don't run over 112-113 mph. That's the speed that 34's will hit the 6400 rev limiter. At cruise speed, they get DOUBLE the gas mileage, and running hard, they still get about 60% more. We've only had a problem with one of them blowing up, and that was due to electrical problems that ended up getting replaced. I sell the 300xs with standard mids for $16,500. The LH offshore is $17,450 and the RH is $17,200. No tax outside Florida. They sell faster than I can get them though.

I'm putting a pair on a new 30ft Liberator cat now.

There is a lot of good info on S & F, however I feel like I am an offshore boater, not a 20 footer bass boat with as much power as it can handle so OSO fits me better.
Nothing wrong with going 120MPH on a 20 footer, but not what I am personally looking for. Like they say- whatever floats your boat. |
