Ms. Geico record on Chesapeake Bay

I realize this is a week old now, but trying to find out where the official Old time record was found, who timed Ms. Geico for the new Official Record?
Everybody wants to jump on the band wagon now. Need more input!

I don't believe there was a prior record. They set the mark for you to shoot at.

You thinking about running the big red Skater?

Hello Xtreme. There was no clear record via power (4 hrs by sail) so the run was "established" we AMF/OPA are looking for this to be an annual event. A full Coast Guard permit is required for the event and because of the speeds will have to be approved at the highest levels of the USCG. They will require saftey systems in place coordinates dates etc. Plan on spending aprox 15k to set up a run on your own, OR you could become an OPA member and make the run with us next year before the OC race. We ran with the latest Bell 407 -150knts helo to be able to keep up with us. 2 seperate timing systems on board the helo along with telemetry and on board Timing systems gave us exact timing, the average after the 4 were reviewed was 14.07. and believe me it was a rough run. We had the Coast Guard Your in Command running support with us as well as well as patrol coast guard assets on the water.

Once again if you are interested in making the Record run feel free to email me [email protected] for more details.

We could develop classes similar to LOTO if the response is strong enough.

Best Regard's

Marc

It would be an awesome pre or post-race event. Make it a drag race from A to B. Everyone pony up X dollars, winner in each class keeps it.

Thanks for the input - Yup, thinking about the big red Skater! Will definately be in touch, gotta confab with the mighty Captain, give him your thoughts and see what direction Team Xtreme wants to go. Original thought was to just take the big guy out there and see what we could do to break the record. Will give him your ideas and get back to all.
