Suggestins on 1st boat project
I am looking for an older to fix up and I was wondering what are some of the better brands from the 80s or what brands to stay away from. Im looking from something in the 23 to 26ft rang and around 10k to 15k or so. The boats that I have always loved are Donzi 1st and Scarabs… Heck I really like them all.
Any advices would great… Thank you for your time Frank |
Buy one that is complete, you'll be $$$$ ahead,
|
If you insist on restoring one, double what you thought it was going to cost, and double the amount of time you though it would take. My short list of boats worth restoring: Cigarette, Magnum, Pantera, Donzi.

That is one nice Spyder. Used not abused. Someone needs to appreciate that piece.
Eric. no kid'n, damn nice boat there. you'de be hard pressed to by a decent fix-er-upper Spyder and duplicate it any where near the buy it now price. |
I think old boats are similar to old cars. It's better financially to buy someone else's restoration, than to do it yourself. You may want to look for something already in nice condition, and then do a bit of modernizing. There are plenty of boats in great condition at a good price in the classifieds.

Thanks for the advices! I need to learn more about transoms and motors…
How much doses it cost to have a transom rebuilt or a motor? I really like this Donzi and have always wanted one... Its a little out of my $ range for now though... http://www.available.com/front/frame...tem.php?id=751 |
