Best system/deal on hydraulic steering?
 

Looking to put full hydraulic steering on a single Bravo. Who's got the best system and who's got the best deal?

Zeiger! I just installed their kit on my boat. Went on like it was supposed to be there. I bought it from Fred at Trick Marine. Fred gave me Paul Zeiger's phone number and Paul walked me through it step by step before I even received the kit. He said to call anytime while installing if I needed help, even weekends. That's what you call customer service!!

Did you use single or dual ram?

I have a single ram on my boat. I already had the external steering from the factory. I upgraded the cable internal to full hydraulic. On a 24' Super with stock power, 1 ram is plenty good.

I have installed Marine machine on a 311 Formula, 35 Sonic, and 43 Black Thunder. I would never have a hi performance boat with out it.

I looked at marine machine...who did you buy it from?

Big difference is an understatement. The stock steering was so worn out that it was almost uncontrollable at speed. The boat goes 72, but it was frightening to go that fast as you felt you had very little control. May have been the cable, or it may have been the gimbal/tiller steering bushings. After changing it out, it is like a new boat. Full control at all speeds. I can promise you I will NEVER have another performance boat without full hydraulic.

The factory external part on my boat is Marine Machine. The drive bracket is a large beefy piece that looks stronger than many others I have seen.

Anybody here on OSO a dealer for marine machine?

I don't want this to sound hokey but a friend of mine just completed manufacturing his own hydraulic steering and the internals are better than Marine Machine/IMCO/any of the others...the quality is awesome and was made at a VERY reputable machine shop. He is currently working on all of the "other" replacement parts to put together 10 sets or so as he's hoping to start selling. The cylinders are complete and will be considerably less expensive than the other manufacturers mentioned.

I had MM on my 24. Worked great, till i bent a piston mid July. Sent it to MM and they turned it around same day!
Lost no time on the water. Great customer service.
I too won't own a 60mph+ boat w/o it.

How do you guys feel about the Bravo cap design (Zieger, Mayfair, Imco) or the wing plate design (Latham, MM, XS, WPM) which do you feel is a better design?

jdub,i have mayfair by harden marine on my 22.the dual ram model.i think it was about 2750.00 from c&pperformance.i shoped around and they were the cheaspest.no problems as of yet.

The kit you mention is for add on dual-ram external steering, not full hydraulic. CP Performance lists their full-hydraulic at $4395.00.

My buddy's price...$2,900 full hydraulic :)!

How much is he asking for just a single external ram setup? (not full hydraulic)
