278 lbs drag boat
Just wanted to share a little project that is being built.
Here is the latest 19 out of the mold. It is all carbon fiber/resin infused/foam cored. It came in at 278lbs complete with stringers and bulkheads. What is really different is the fact that is not a flexi flyer. This boat is solid. Should be intersting to see what it will do this year at the drags.

A normal river lay up would be about 700 lbs. A normal hand laid fibergalss race lay up can get as low as 300 to 350 lbs, but would be very flimsy and weak. An infused fiberglass race lay up would be 450 lbs, but stiff and strong. We wanted the boat to be under 350 and stiff. We are more than happy with the results. Mike Miller will be racing this boat this year at the drags.
530 inch, 1200hp just on the engine. 1500hp with nitrous. jet driven The boat should do 135 on the engine and hopefully get over 140 on the bottle.
