While out on the water

what do many of you do or where do you go...... I know this seems like a dumb question to many of you.....

I've never been on a boat before, but i am considering getting one. Figured i would rent or lease one to see if this something i will really enjoy

But for the life of me, i can not figure out what there is to do once you sail out.

Assuming you were leaving from the Annapolis/Baltimore/DC area.... what would your plans be and/or where would go.

Your first problem is the sail  ......if your using one of those you'll spend the entire day going to visit somewhere you could have seen with binoculars!!! :D Try to find someone local that boats, spend some time with them and you'll see the attraction. (BTW: Cover there expenses, at least provide ALL the drinks and food)

we need to know where your from, lake MI is 1/2 a mile from me, the ramp is 1/4 mile, there is Grand Haven, Holland, Saugatuck, Muskegon, South Haven, White Lake, Pentwater all about 50 miles apart, Pentwater is farther but thats from me:D So it is the big lake with small ports and good fun, GH is the best with a cove that is a blast and a river in case the lake is crazy. Lots of local talent heads to the cove....called Hanky Panky..go figure, thats the least of what goes on there.:D It is full on porno, sometimes XXX:eek:

That is the FIRST thing you have ever posted that I agree with 100% (SAIL)!!!!!! Please spend some time around the docks and start out with a boat than you can handle. Go out with some friends and see what it is all about??????
For the love of god do not ever say SAIL OUT again!!!!
I worry about this ???????????

Sometimes I go to a local spot where it's shallow and the kids can hop out and walk around in the bay.

Sometimes I go to visit friends who live on the water.

Sometimes I head to one of the waterfront watering holes.

But most of the time, I don't go anywhere in particular, and I don't need to. I just like to be out on the water more than pretty much anywhere else.

Besides the "sail" part, this is an interesting question. Depends on what's around. But it usually involves a few high-speed runs to feel the thrill of power and waves, a lot of drifting / anchoring, some beers and feed. A swim. Some tunes. Maybe dock for lunch. For me it's not really about trying to get to particular destination, just to get our under my own terms, and have some relaxation time. But there is NOTHING like a powerboat to make you feel alive.

The Chesapeake Bay might be the best boating destination in the world for variety of places and things to do. Within 30 miles of my dock are probably 40 good restaurants on the water, and some great ones. You can cruise one of the rivers till the end, anchor and enjoy the day. There are all kinds of clubs and groups that have activities (see my sig), and there are literally hundreds of places to just go hang out. Obviously if you have a smaller boat there are also water toys, skiing, tubing, etc. Honestly, there is nothing better than just being on the boat with someone you care about (or at least want to bang) :evilb: and just hanging out.

You need to get a 150 mph boat and go to happy hour at 5 different places,

get a boat, one w/loud exhaust and a sunny day and go out and do some cruising.the wind in your hair and the sweet sound of a v-8 and you'll no what its allllll about.do not say sail out.....that's for blow boaters.
