Hit and Run on the Conn. River

Passing this along for a fellow Donzi owner. Really nice guy. He's been restoring his boat for along time and it means the world to him. Please help if you spot something.

Donzi hit & run

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Hartmann who just won the retoration award at the Lake George Donzi Dust-off for his St. Tropez was hit on the CT River yesterday. A 24-28 foot baja type boat hit him at 40-50 mph, while he was stopped and drifting, with 8 people aboard. Luckily no-one was hurt, but his boat sustained some major damage in the bow. He says it set him back at least 100 hours on the restoration. Damage was all above the water line so it didn't sink. The other boat took off without checking to see if they were alright or anything. They are looking for a baja type boat with significant glass damage. Any info contact David by e-mail at [email protected] or call [email protected] 860 944 1210.

I'm glad no one was hurt, but it really sucks that someone would leave the scene of a potentially serious boating accident.

I'll keep my eye out. Thats terrible news about the Donzi. I've seen that boat and it's really cool. Do you know it was definitly a Baja and if so colors?? I know most of the performance boats in the area and may be able to help out. Also where did it occur on the river???

I hate to hear that some azz would do that.

I'm happy to hear that no one was hurt though. Hopefully someone knows who it is.

Maybe the cops should do something about this instead of handing out noise tickets

DEP won't do anything. A couple of years ago we had a guy get hit and sink in Haddam. DEP said he ran aground and did nothing! Other boat never found.

checkmate DOH!! 07-07-2007 05:32 AM

that sux----its amazing how people can be like that and just run off after slammin somebody----but if the tables were turned and someone hit that guys baja, he would most likely freak out. glad no one got hurt though----boats and cars can be repaired......humans are tougher to fix....

Daves still looking !
CT. Boyz keep your eye's open. This boating is hiding somewhere.
Daves words-
Crashed Donzi CT River

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you that run your boat in the CT River. I am trying to locate a 24 to 28 foot Baja type boat with some significant fiberglass damage. I think it was blue and white. If anyone knows anything please email me or call [email protected] 860 944 1210.

I am glad I got that restoration award at the LG event. I was drifting down the CT river Tuesday night. I got hit by a boat doing between 40 and 50mph. That set me back 100 hours or so. Totally opened up the Bow. Mostly topside nothing below the waterline although they had no idea as they took off and did not stop to see how bad things were. I had 8 people on board We were extrordinarly lucky that no one got hurt. Honestly we could have been killed. I think it sucks that the guy took off. I am hoping that I can find him and he has insurance that would make repair a lot easier. I think also someone should talk to him about the idea of leaving the scene of a major boating accident.

Thanks for any help
