Default Title in Florida or Louisiana

I own property in both states. Which would be better to call home port? Are there any advantages or disadvantages of one over the other?

It's my understanding that in La. there are no sales tax charges on used boats. I know of several through the years that did this on their documented boats. Not sure with La. numbered boats.
And you don't even need to live or have property there.

I don't think Louisiana generates a title for a boat. We just bought a boat from Louisiana and the owner indicated that his only option was Coast Guard documentation. We were definitely concerned during the transaction. We got the Coast Guard documentation transferred by hiring a documentation company. We keep the boat in Florida. In the early summer, we were pulled over for a safety check and got a warning violation for not having a Florida registration sticker. Florida requires documented boats to also be registered (no hull numbers are required but you do have to display the registration sticker, most boats seem to put them on the windshield). We got hit for the sales tax when we register it. The Florida registration numbers are the same as the Coast Guard numbers. We were operating the boat a couple of weeks ago in Indiana (inland lake) and got pulled over because we didn’t have registration numbers on the hull. They instructed us to relocate the registration sticker to the hull and display the numbers (they recognized that it was a Coast Guard documented boat). We just got pulled over on the 4th of July and everything was finally acceptable. We are heading to Chicago this weekend and I expect something else will come up.

Louisiana doesn't title boats and also doesn't require sales tax on used boats purchased from and individual regardless of age. They do require registration numbers and stickers to be displayed unless the boat is coast guard documented.
