As eveyone else had said, you aren't stupid.
We've all done worse. I know I have.
Just two weeks ago we anchored in our regular cove but I guess the anchor went in to weeds and didn't take hold. We damn near drifted into another boat. I only realized what happened after the other owner pushed us away from his boat.
Schit happens man.

Just a for what it's worth, I think that if you would have called Sea Tow and the operator wouldn't have been able to pull right next to you, but instead had to anchor, then get out and walk over to your boat to hand you a tow rope, that simple task would have made it a salvage operation. I have an $1800 bill for that heroism task .

The bad news is the Sheriff came over to see what was going on and it looked like the driver got arrested ... probably drunk.

Check your GPS out. It very well may have an anchor alarm. On my big boat, i can set it to alarm if i move more than xx number of feet. We use it when anchoring in the ocean at night for the fireworks. Great for peace of mind.
