Lake Hamilton

Does anyone know anything about this lake and where are the hot spots. Are there any members there that would like to meet up. Headed up Sarurday morning to try something new looks very nice.

Hamilton

The wife and I have talked about making the trip up there. It's about a 4.5 hour drive for us so we were waiting on the weather to line out before we scheduled a weekend. If we can get a group togather we're game. Talk to OSO member
"marineclean" he's from that area and gave me some good info... LF

Lake Quachita isd more popular in the area with the perf boats....

Carter, let me know if you ever want to get out on Beaver, do it on a Sunday and We'll get Buck out:drink:

Quachita is the way to go. Hamilton is very crowded with rent a boaters.

Dock Holiday 07-11-2007 12:04 PM

All the hot spots as far as resturants and bars are where Hwy 7 South crosses the lake.

There is a sand bar as they call it heading back toward Blakely Mt Dam just before you cross under the bridge at Hwy 270 West.

I grew up on Hamilton and use to think it was a BIG lake as a child. I was surprised when we were there two years ago and found a 50 foot NorTech on a lift there!

As for Quachita it is VERY pretty and I hear there are a lot of performance boats there. My dad use to have house boat at Mountain Harbor but not much there to do except find and island and spend the day.

Have fun

Thanks for all the info guys. Hamilton is where we will be going up to stay at five points from what I am told. I guess I am going to drag the cig up there and see what its like.

I'm going to have the 28 over here in late August for a couple weeks. I might hit you and Buck up for a tour of Beaver....

Dock Holiday is right on the money. Call me when you get on 270E heading towards Hot Springs. I will meet you at the Joplin Store at the entrance to Harbor, it's about 20 miles before Hot Springs.

Ouachita is clear and we do get a lot of divers. Hamilton is a party lake with more patrol and a lot more no wake zones. Ouachita is pretty much wide open just pick your island or cove. Spillway is closer to Hot Springs than any other Marina. It is in Garland County, so liquor is only 10 minutes away by land or boat. You can get beer at Brady Mountain if you run out while on the water. Also, no retail liquor sales on Sundays except for club or bar. State Law. :(

Thanks for the info. And we Never run out!! We b from Okla and only drink Beer from other states! Luckly I send my employess to Mo and Ar on a regular basis for work and a standing order to not return without 3 or 4 cases.

I came from Grand (CYC) to Ouachita this year. Great lake, clean water, wide open, nice folks, but definitely not a party lake and surrounded by primarily dry counties. Best advice, bring the party with you and you'll have a great time. Only a few go fasts call the lake home. I keep my Fountain at Mt. Harbor in slip J18. Also have a mobile home at the marina (let the AR jokes begin). If you're going to make it to Ouachita, PM me and let me know you're coming. I'd be more than happy to meet up with a fellow OSO'er from OK/Grand. Girlfriend and I are there pretty much every weekend.

Just wanted to say thanks again for meeting up with us and showing us around. We had a blast and that is one nice lake can't wait to come back and stay awhile.

I have been tossing around checking it out as well.
Is it a rough lake from big boat traffic like Grand?

Fin

carter38 07-18-2007 08:21 AM

Ouachita is by far the nicest lake I have ever been on. I don't think the traffic would be that bad because it is so big and open. Its worth going just to see the sites mountains all around and clear water. Its got alot of big houseboats on it.

No problem Dustin! The wife and I had a great time as well. You've done a great job with the Bullet! She ran perfect. I imagine the haul home wasn't to bad on the freeway. :D
Let us know when you are coming and we will help with the reservations.

If any other fellow OSOers are interested in Ouachita just shoot me an email or give me a call.

I'll be in Hot Springs most of the day Thursday and part of Friday. We might jump in my work boat Friday afternoon, but I know we will be on the water Sat/Sun. I haven't talked with Brad, so I don't know if we're going to work on the "Party Cove" idea or not this weekend. Get in touch.
