the 2500HD towed well...but I think I'm gonna need a bigger truck... :)

now she's tied up at the dock... :)

Jassman 07-14-2007 11:25 AM

It is GM's suspension. The Duramax/Allison combo is great, but the suspension underneath is geared towards a better ride vs a work truck or for trailering close towards it's limits. Good Luck. Jeff

Anarchy Powerboats 07-14-2007 12:14 PM

Your truck should be more than enough for that boat, are your brakes working OK?

Ive been giving Rich a hard time, we were going, then he was having problems with the motors so we thought, and (now really does) possibly it was off. Then I got extremely busy at work and Sandy and I were not able to make it. So Ive been just bustin his Kahuna's. I am taking off for LOTO and staying with John (mentlepause) for a few days. That sound also like alot of fun. :drink: . Jeff

Nice Sean, is that your home at the North Fork?

Magic Medicine 07-14-2007 02:12 PM

Nice boat Sean. I was following your insurance thead in another section. If you don't mind me asking who did you end up with.

NJgr8ful 07-14-2007 02:44 PM

Nice Sean glad you launched in '07.

See if that truck and rig can get down here to NJ around Saturday, August 4th and run the NJPPC run with us ... or any other weekend would work too for that matter :D I would love to see that boat in person, with all the work you've done on dash and 'bilge area' during last few years, and running the ocean where it was born to run  :)

I might even think about taking it off your hands someday :evilb:

That's a great lookin' Cafe........very tasteful.

GLH 07-15-2007 08:09 AM

Have fun Sean nice to see you out there.

Sean 07-15-2007 09:58 AM

the truck is has the 6.0L engine and has the "tow package"...and i think i'm pushing it's limits on the towing. the suspension works great and doesnt squat like i see a lot of fords doing. i think the gooseneck also helps distribute the load better. as far as the brakes, they do an ok job...i always leave myself plenty of room for braking, and the trailer brakes certainly to ALOT of the work.

the trailer is about to go in the shop to be redone...there's a bunch of surface rust that needs to be taken care of, so i'm gonna redo the whole thing...and get some new wheels...those "Candies" are shot!

i'll get some pics of the bilge this week...the 496s are plain, but they start every time :)

donz, i had the cover custom made for the Superboat. I didn't want to put any holes in the boat...it goes on easily, sheds the water nicely and allows plenty of airflow throughout the boat...

thx for all the comments guys...

JROMY 07-15-2007 09:56 PM

Hey Sean - hope to meet up with you on the water this summer. Now that I'm working back in Manhattan, I sold my Duramax and bought a regular cab 6.0. I have actually been positively impressed at how it tows the Powerplay. Even low tide with the trailer in the mud, no problem. The biggest difference I see is on the highway, especially around hills, keeping your speed up. The Duramax never even seemed like it was working, the 6.0 is definatately working, but does pull the boat no problem. You must love the 496s after your other motors. Maybe we'll see you at Claudios sometime soon!

Titan 07-16-2007 07:09 AM

Sean

Boat looks great. I will be out in Shelter Island this weekend. Have to go to a Party on Sat. But if you are out on Sun lets get the rigs out and burn some gas....

Biggus 07-16-2007 08:01 AM

Sean 07-16-2007 11:03 AM

thx boys... I'll be out and about this weekend...have to haul the boat at Albertson's on Saturday for a cleaning and then...who knows... :)

the 20 is still at my parents...i'll get started on it this winter. i was going to do the donzi, but it looks like i'm going to have to sell it...too many boats and not enough room! :)

i do love those 496s... who wants to go to Block for lunch? :)

cig1988 07-18-2007 03:51 AM

Yo dude!
Looking good as ever Sean. We've got to make it out that way this summer. You need to consider the electric over hydraullic conversion when you do up the trailer. I towed the Bullet down to Murray in June & they are the cats azz.

The previous owner did the conversion for me...right before I picked the boat up...it is definitely the way to go!

enticer 07-28-2007 04:04 PM

I didn't read all the posts...BUT you do NOT need a bigger truck. Save your money

cig1988 07-29-2007 03:42 AM

We definetly need to hook up before summer is out and make a weekend out it.

Titan 07-29-2007 09:10 AM

Sean

Was great seeing you yesterday. The Cig looked great as usual. I just got back to Oyster Bay. Have to go to work today. My wife got some shots of the poker run so I will post them when I get home tonight. See ya next weekend!!! There is a raft up party by Cedar Point this Sunday with a band on a barge if you are interested in going. I will be out there again on Wed. So if you are around lets hook up for a cruise....

Don

Sean 07-29-2007 08:40 PM

Don,

Was great to see you too...! That motor sounds healthy!

We are headed to La Superica in Sag, Oasis in North Sea and Pridwin on Shelter Island on Wednesday. We'll be on my brother-in-law's Tiara.

Too bad you won't be around on Tuesday...I'll have a special guest on board... :)

We went to Barcelona last year and had a fun time...but not sure if we'll make it this year... We're on vacation all week, so Sunday will more than likely be a much needed day of rest. If we go, it will probably be a drive-by in the Superboat... I'll keep an eye out for ya...

That is very interesting. Last Wed my wife and I did Superica for dinner and then went to the Pridwin also. Lets hook up and do the same. I am confused about Oasis though? IS that the old Mill Creek. If it is I know the spot. The Pridwin is a classic Wed night hang out for me as well. I used to be the Bar tender there when I was 20 to 23. They were some great summers...

The boat is sitting at my parents dock in Dering right now waiting to be used. This work thing is really getting in the way of my social calander though.....

Titan 07-30-2007 06:05 AM

Oh yeh almost forgot.. Who is the special friend????

Our long lost friend Wes will be making a guest appearance...

You are correct about Oasis...It is the old Mill Creek. Let's catch up at the Pridwin on Wed if you are around...

Titan 07-30-2007 07:37 AM

Sounds like a plan. See ya there...

Tell Wes to get that Apache in the water and use it ......

How fast did it run with the 496 HO's and would you recommend that conversion to others?
