Default Northstar 6000 will it work?

I was in my buddy Georges 42 MTI this weekend. I love his Northstar 6000. It displays all his gauges at the touch of a button. I was thinking of eliminating the gauges on the port side and installing one. He said it's only compatable with Merc Smartcraft system. Is this true? I know I saw the same Northstar in the new Pure Platinum Skater. Will it work with my Sterling motors?

No. I already tried that with my Sterlings. Randy, Gary, and Mike D. all told me it wouldn't work. Sucks huh!

Hey, Boat looks beautiful! It does suck!! You would think if you installed all the same sensors it would work. The motors are very similiar.

I don't get it either. Our Garmins are the same way. Guess "cooking motors" has it's benefits. Thanks. Did you ever get the cameras set up in the 44? Mc and are were discussing what we were going to do today and he said that you may have put a four camera set in it?.

The system is partially in. They need to finish the rest of the install. It worked pretty good in Jax, the quality was great. It will be nice recording from 3 points at one time.

There was a guy on OSO just before the miami boat show that said that he had a box that would allow smart craft on any motor. Maybe some one else will remember who it was.

The Garmin 4000 and 5000 (touchscreen) units will do the same thing, but most require NMEA 2000 data from the engines to do it. Maybe Livorsi will come up with a conversion adapter for us less fortunate types...

Gino it took me a lot of searching but unfortunatly it looks like OSO removed the thread?

This was the original link that I was able to find

Maybe OSO still has it in a archive or something? You may want to check with "DoTheMath" as he was going to look for the guy at the show. Not sure if he ever found him or not.

If you're considering the Northsatr 6000i, take a look at the new 6001i; it has a weather option that provides Sirrius active satellite weather, wave forcasts, bouy info., etc.
