BrendanR what is your 201 Liberator’s setup? To hit 85 mph you have to be running well over 500 hp, Probably 575+ hp.
|
Running about 625hp. I have a full mayfair duel ram external steering kit and a max machine worx built xr drive with a 1.50 gear which next year will have a -2 shorty speed master lower and a 1.35 gear. It currently has a 4 blade 28p bravo prop which is also getting changed. The setup is a 509, big cam, aluminum heads and a tiny heat maker on top. I just picked up an m1sc that's going on in about 8 weeks

BrendanR so you are joining the Procharger crowd. 625 hp is a lot in a 201 Liberator.
|
Yes, joining the procharger crowd because I got a good deal on it. I have plans to build a twin turbo 540 but it will end up in a larger hull. Family always had liberators and after researching and finding the 108 mph 261 I said, I'm going to beat that. This thread intrigued me because I wanted to see if anyone else beat that record yet in a fourwinns. So far, I'm at 85 mph with no tabs and a 4 blade prop. When the procharger goes on, I will be pushing the 850-900hp mark and lenco 18x12 ss electric tabs are going on this 201. As soon as the site allows me to post photos, I will do so.

I'm on plane by 25 mph. Last year I beat out a friend's 17' jet boat with a mild built 454. He swapped to his 496 and it was fast however I was realing it in but I believe because he was topped out around 70.

This is the video at 82 mph at 5800rpm |
Looks like you have the same exhaust that is in my boat. IMCO Powerflow exhaust manifolds with stainless steel risers going to stainless steel piping going to the stock exhaust ports.
|
I would like to see a video from shore or from another boat of your supercharged 509 Liberator running 82 mph or faster.

It is an aluminum headed 383 with fast xfi sportsman fuel injection and procharger. I did a bravo swap 1.5 ratio with labbed 26 pitch 4 blade prop. Only turning it around 5100. It has more in it but the chine walk gets bad. Also added a Mayfair single ram add on hydraulic steering.

BrendanR 5,800 rpm out of a big block supercharged 509 seems like a fairly high rpm. What is your max rpm?

My 400 engine would hit top speed at approximately 5,200 to 5,250 rpm with the 23” Mirage Plus prop. The new 406 engine makes peak HP at 5,500 rpm. Power is only 11 HP less at 5,600 rpm. I’m hoping the boat can hit top speed at 5,500 to 5,600 rpm. If so my boat should hit 75-76 mph.
