I wonder......
Who’s BIG cat would be the fastest, if you put in the same power, (Merc’s 1075 for example) in it:
The New OL 50 cat The Nor-Tech 50 cat The MTI 55 cat Skater's 46 cat Mystic's 50 cat And let the manufacturer select the drive that works best with their hull. Who do you guys think would be “Top Cat”? Dean |
It would be a Fountain or an Apache in rough water:rolleyes:
|
WOW i just checked this thread at lunch and 57 views and no opinions? I'll venture out on the limb and say that the Mystic 50 would be the fastest and probobly the best riding boat also, next to an Apache of course!

Dean i would say the mystic probably would be the fastest as well, but there are too many different variables here, canopies, huge open cockpits, different running lengths, cabins and what not... |

It's gotta be the OL. cause someone said it would go 225-240:rolleyes: they wouldnt have stretched the truth, OH wait a minute....it's still a mystery:D

Skater 46
|
Skater assuming all are canopied boats and set up with no cabins or frills.

MTI could be ,havent heard anything on the 55's. Again weight and lenght will play a roll:p :p |

Dean, is Callan the maker that's over by Deland? Let me know...If they are, I sure would like to take a look at the place and see how those things are made.

It's actually Mystic powerboats that designs/builds/rigs all of the Callan Marine boats. And yes, they are located in Deland. Here is their website, with directions to the shop: http://www.mysticpowerboats.com/ I've got to head up there one of these days, and start tweaking my HP500s to install them in the Nordic.:drink: Dean This was incredible, (1st pic), this is unbelievable, (2nd pic)!! |
at 4,000lbs for a 50' hull, I dont think it would even be close, Mystic, If it was'nt the fastest why would the biggest names in offshore racing be racing them, Cosker is at the top now.but a new midwestern made hull will soon be on the scene that will challenge for top dog.

You got that right...When it comes down to it they are all good in one way or another. It is which ever manufacturer that will take care of you after the sale is what's important. |

The Bud Select Mystic 50 is awesome. I loved this video.
http://www.mysticpowerboats.com/phot...ube/index.html The boat is long enough and light enough to run direct drives with struts with a center rudder. Running direct drives would make the package very reliable and damage resistant. Not sure how they trim it though. |

The Mystic's BPM surface drives have a trim cylinder in the vertical strut that attaches the aft section of the drive to the hull. It's fully trimable.

You're correct, my typo, Bud Select is running Trimaxs and Callan is running BPMs. Dean |
