Need Key West Info

A good friend of my girlfriends is about to move to Key West and she wants to go visit. So I'm thinking as long as we're going, might as well go in Nov for the races and when all big name boats will be in town. :party-smiley-048:

Any recomendations on where to stay? Where's all the action at? On the water or on duvall st? Is there enough going on that week that I won't be bored and aggravated that I don't have my boat down there? Never been so any and all advice is appreciated.

You'll have fun either way. Plenty to do and see. That's a great week to be there. But you will be having withdrawals if you don't have a boat to go on. If the girlfriends friend if female and hot, I know a guy with a 38 Top Gun that will be there, somebody may be able to score a ride....

The girlfriends hot, the friend... not so much. :D

Stay near Duval, but not on it if you want to get any sleep.
Trueman Annex is close to the races and Duval Street.
I always rent a house/condo. Here's a good ite to start searching:

prep your liver and for places to stay you can also look here www.athomekeywest.com I rented a house from them with a pool about 3 blocks from duval very easy to deal with.

Which end of Duvall or is it all good? What about the races and marinas, what side of the island are they on? Is Old Town a good location?

Humm.... Looks like you're going to need some launch ramp information then too... :D

NOMOGOFAST 07-26-2007 02:13 PM

Were staying at the Pilot House on Simonton about 1/2 block off Duval close to the Irish Kevin's, Starbucks and the races.

Aw c'mon. She's got a nice rack, if you can shut the lights off and get her to shut her trap it wouldn't be too bad. :D

there are some boat ramps ,but they can't handle anything big, your best bet is to call murray marine(of nick carter racing/fountain)they can probably help point you in the right direction,a lot of the marinas down here went condo, there is a boat ramp at garrison bight/charter boat row on truman ave. murray 305-296-0364 if they can't help they know someone who can

stay on duval if you can(but not in the 800 block, although they say it only hurts the first twenty times)you will be stumbling distance from your room, during race week you will not be bored, but you will miss your boat, because there is a ton of hardware in the bight, keep in mind the island is only 2x4 so if your bored you can walk home, and you better book early

What are the dates for the races? Thanks

www.superboat.com for dates Nov 4 - 11 I believe.

www.1800atlantic.com is nice if you want off the strip condos.

We rented this place http://www.vacationkeywest.com/southernmost.html by far the NICEST rental in Key West. The home is owned by Seaward Johnson, the artist that does the statue of people that you need to do a double take to see they aren't real. Its pricey but it has 4 full bedrooms and several pull outs. If I remember correctly it has 5 bathrooms. Can comfortably put 7 couples into this place.

Staying at Curry Mansion, right behind the Monkey Bar. Duvall St. is the best any time you go. We'll be there Friday through Monday.

Looking forward to the liver damage and the :party-smiley-020:
