Maybe what he meant is that bolt cutters crush & distort the bundle and don't cut cleanly. I'm sure you could cut cables with a hatchet if you were so disposed. It's just not the "best" way.

Ever wonder why they are called " BOLT " cutters ? My cheap bolt cutters want cut it ,it made a mess of the test picse. I did use a cut off wheel, but it still wants to unravel. The factory wire looks like it has some kind of soldier on it? The pick on the MSD coil I cut with a cut off wheel.the other look cut with a torch or something? |

Actually liquid electrical tape works real nice on 1/2 inch and smaller rope
