I'm back in the game!!!

Well, some said it would never happen, but I'm finally back in the game - I bought a 24' Pantera.

Yes, this is the one that has been passed around OSO like a groupie on the Motley Crue tour bus.:D

Previous owners:
- IRONMAN
- Dude!!Sweet!!
- NickK
I made the run from Cinci to St Louis and back yesterday to meet up with Nick, and after 14 hrs on the road she was in my driveway last night.
I'm pretty pleased with the boat, and already spent the morning planning my modifications:D
Hopefully do a shakedown run next weekend.
Wanna say thanks to Nick, Sean, and Chris for answering all my questions before I bought it site unseen.
And just by looking at the glass layup in the bilge, you can tell what a wave crusher this is gonna be.
I'm dying to get her out on the water, but too worn out from yesterday. Just want to do a little polishing and familiarize myself with it today.

Mark 08-12-2007 01:08 PM

You Dog!! Congrats on a sweet looking boat! Now just keep it off the bouys :D

MOBILEMERCMAN 08-12-2007 01:17 PM

Nice, Congrats, I'm currently boatless and it sucks, May be this winter I will have saved enough to start shopping.

Jim

I was boatless for 5 yrs.
Felt like my arms fell off.
Started at age ten, and 26 years on the water. It get's in your blood.
Good luck in your search - I followed this one through three owners, and jumped on it as soon as I saw it was up for sale.

rchevelle71 08-12-2007 02:48 PM

Congrats on a great looking boat.

thunderusone 08-12-2007 03:32 PM

bouyhunter 08-12-2007 06:41 PM

It's IRONMAN's old boat.
As history goes, he did the majority of work to it.
Installed the Bravo, and at one time had a huge motor in this, but swapped it when he got his 28'.
NickK said he was seeing 60 out of it with a 23 Mirage+ - it may have room for more.
Haven't even gotten it on the water yet. Next weekend.
Dude!!Sweet!! did the exhaust - which it sounds freekin killer!!
Nick - thanks for including the mufflers - hope I never need them:D
I'm just jacked that I once again have something to waste all my money on - one penny at a time:D

I can't wait to ride on it and drink all your beer one day!

You'll have to make it out this way - or verse- vicea, or whateverer- or I need to make it out to your camper and hang out for a weekend.:D
And the beer thing is easy.

Joe - We're gonna try to make it, but nothing set in stone just yet.
We missed you last year - anytime we went by your boat you weren't there.

CigDaze 08-13-2007 07:06 AM

Congratulations. Beautiful boat!

dykstra 08-13-2007 08:17 AM

Congrats!

Stormrider 08-13-2007 08:24 AM

CONGRATS!!!
I'd much rather buy a boat that went from board member to member, than from a non member. Its a great boat at a helluva price!

Dude! Sweet! 08-13-2007 11:26 AM

Tim, good talking to you and congratulations on your re-boating!

I almost wish you'd bought that boat directly from Chris, because then I wouldn't regret the fact that I couldn't keep it along with my 28!

NOMOGOFAST 08-13-2007 11:35 AM

WINTER? I forgot you live in md. Sorry.

Agreed. That is why I was comfortable making an offer sight unseen. I found the Ad on a Sat. morning on OSO 2 weeks ago around 10:00 am. Called Nick and asked for more pictures. He said he could send them that evening around 5-6:00. I did a bunch of searching on here, and found enough pics and info on this boat to make a call and an offer around 2-3:00.
I trust the guys here - I haven't water tested yet, but I'm very confident.

Sean, good talking to you too. When I hung up the phone, I hadn't realized we'd been BS'n for almost 45 mins.
Thanks for all the info.
And, like I said, if you're ever out this way...:drink:

Indy 08-13-2007 02:37 PM

Congrats and make the most of what's left of the summer...be safe too!!!

Hey - watch what ya say!!
I've never met Joe, but I've met his wife a few times (we work for the same Co. at different locations) and she's a very nice lady.
I look forward to meeting up with them both on the water - hopefully I can make it down to watch the Cumberland run this year. I did the run last year in a friends boat that also works with us (liquidator), and it was a blast!

offshoredrillin 08-13-2007 06:04 PM

congrats Tim, go out and run it hard.

Mark 08-15-2007 06:43 PM

OK Bouy, I did'nt even get a remark about keepin it off of the bouys! I'll be up in Cincy some time this year. I'll bring the Gold Star, but I'm gonna drink all of your beer! Have fun and watch out for the trees floating down the Ohio river. :D

ILMORdude 08-15-2007 07:09 PM

Want a slightly used V-10? Wow that would be sweet! Great looking ride, way to get back in the game, have fun!!

CCstinger260 08-15-2007 07:29 PM

Congrats on the cool ride bouyhunter! I should be able to get my terd Stinger back together over the winter and we'll have to get together come springtime. I live about 35 mins north of Cincy.

Goldstar - hell I won't eat that crap - I still haven't figured out this Cinci "chili" thing yet, and I've almost been here 5 yrs.
The Bouy was a dumb incident on my part - running too fast after dark - I was young and dumb. Lesson learned.
Let me know when you're up. You're welcome to my beers, but I'll warn you, I drink the cheap watered down stuff. Tastes good to me, and you can drink it all day without getting trashed.

That would be an interesting ride, and I think I actually have the room for it.
Thanks for the compliments - she's going to need some cosmetics, but nothing too crazy.

Absolutely - love meeting up with other guys on the board.
After 5 yrs. boatless, I'll finally have a better chance of meeting up, and I'll be able to tell lies about my speed when we're on the barstool's - I haven't even been able to do that for a long time...:D

Now, where can I get a new Lifeline for this thing??
The one on it is in decent shape, but the vinyl has kinda turned and I'd like to replace it.
I love the old-school look of the lifeline!

Racegirl3 08-15-2007 08:14 PM

Hey Tim - why wait for Cumberland. Hook that bad boy up and drag it north for Labor Day weekend :D

Congrats again!:cool-smiley-011:

glassdave 08-15-2007 08:15 PM

Dawn, I'd like to, and maybe I will. Just weighing out some options and my budget right now. I know it's not much compared to alot of guys on the board, but it hits my wallet.
Not to mention, I gotta look out for my 3 dogs - I got the pup last Oct. and he's never been to the Kennel (but he's gonna learn soon enough!), and I thought my old guy was a goner 2 weeks ago, I don't really want to kennel him. He's doing alot better the last few weeks, but I don't want him to go through that.
Sorry, don't mean to be a downer - priorities in life though.

Thanks Dave! Maybe I'll make it.
To be truthful, I'd rather be on Erie than anyplace. After growing up on that water, it becomes part of your soul.
I've already been meaning to call you to see what you have scheduled for this winter - I want to do the hullsides and bottom, maybe silver/Gray chine to rubrail, and fix some bottom nick's and spray white. But, I want to be there on the weekends working on it too.
Think about it.

NJgr8ful 08-15-2007 08:58 PM

Nice Bouy congrats bro ... back in the saddle again  :drink: Enjoy that beauty!

Chris

Mark 08-18-2007 10:29 AM

I was born in Cinci. It's a Chili town - what can I say? I was raised on the stuff. Sure wish they had a Gold Star down here. I make my own chili now.

I started drinking the cheap stuff too. It's expensive to drink out in Florida! Plus, trying to avoid the "spare tire". :D
Hopefully I will get my home up there sold this summer - thats when I'll come up. If it's still warm, I'll throw some gas in your tank.....

Are you going to the WEBN fireworks in your new toy? It's a mad house! You can also enjoy the sounds of the Riverbend concerts free from your boat - very cool! :cool-smiley-011:

INSTIGATOR ICBM 08-18-2007 02:58 PM

CONGRATS Hope to see you on the Ohio

I don't care what ya call it, but that ain't chili.
Chili comes in a bowl, burns the hell out of your esophageus, and then you eat a salt cracker.
NADA on the this year thing, yanked the motor this morning to go through - I'd rather start with "I know what I've got" vs. "Is it going to get me home"
It's a great looking boat, needs some touch-up, but you can't beat the classic look.
I have a few things in mind that I want to do to her.
If you make it up here, let me know - we'll have a beer or 6:D
