Had a 69 as a kid. You couldn't destroy the thing. No telling how many rough hours I put on that boat. :)

I had a '66 18' triple hatch barrelback several years back. Great boat! Should have never sold it :(

They are pretty rare & the prices are climbing slowly.

I think from my converstaions with Biggus that would have had the V-drive on it? I seem to recal the 351's mostly going with the V-drives. The boats are FANTASTIC. Most of them are beat good but they are easily salvagable. Once you get the hang of driving them you can run the heck out of them in some real rough water.

it has a volvo drive....im going to take a look at it on thursday i think.

Had my first ride in a classic yesterday and absolutely fell in love with it. Get it if you can!

I have one. Rides amazingly for an 18' boat. Funnest boat I have ever owned.

ThoroughHustler 08-21-2007 09:58 PM

thats insane!

ThoroughHustler. Places that you want to check on the boat are the transom and stringers. Also look at the deck core. Often times that will delam. Check for cracks under the back seat and battery box.

Definatly, I had to put transom and stringers in mine . When they cut the transom they left the wood untreated, soaked all the way down into the stringers. Fortunatly this was really not that difficult of a job to do. I bougt mine knowing it was bad, paid les, now I KNOW I have a solid boat.
