Removing cables from zero effort controls

Okay, I have the controls up so I can see them. I removed the roll pin that locks the cables in place at the very bottom. Now how in the hell do you get the cables off the levers? Both of them have "hooked" shaped ends but I can't see how the come off. They seem to be on there very tight.

I will attach a couple pics.

You don't have to take the control apart, remove the cotterpin and slide out the retainer, move the shifter/throttle forward or back, depending on how the cables come in, you have to get the hooks at almost a 90 degree angle and they will come off of the controls. The are a pain in the arse though. The gaffrigs are much easier than the kiekhaeffers.

If you see the opening in the hook, position the lever and move cable to extreme about 120 degrees to unhook. You don't need to disassemble quadrant. Once you see how it hooks its pretty simple.

Thanks guys. I had to get enough slack to get the right "angle" with the cable and they came right off.
