Is that the same Mad Mad World I used to see when I worked on the beach in Pt Pleasant Beach, when I was 14(1984-5)? I used to sit by the inlet most of the day and watch all the boats going in and out of the ocean all day. Good work if you can get it @ $2.50 an hour....If i recall it was owned by the guy who owns Walsh trucking....had a big house in the beach in Mantoloking too......I used to love that boat. What is it, an old Scarab? It's gotta be the same boat. I had no clue what a surface drive was back in those days. Too bad they're gone now.........Lots of nice Scarabs and Formulas back in those days.

Rare Air was originally put together for my friend Joe. He and I made several trips to Hustler when it was being built and we put alot of time on it the first 2 years. He sold it because of lifes other responsibilities. The guy that bought it but alot of money into it. If anyone has questions about it concerning the build, Id be happy to get them answered.

berns29scarab 08-26-2007 08:43 AM

the motors that are in Rare Air now ARE NOT the ones Charlie H was running it with. He had BIG power in it and when he got his new Hustler he swapped motors. Summer 05 he wanted $95k for it, Sept 06 i offered him $65k and he refused...

And becuase "One Way" Charlie has been in the stratosphere with his price, the boat has been for sale for 3 years now :circle:

Everything Charlie owns is worth millions and everything you own or are selling isn't worth chit :D

It's been there so long we use it as a landmark when giving people directions on how to get to my house.

"Make a left turn at RARE AIR!" :cool-smiley-011:

DaveP 08-26-2007 09:14 AM

Oh yeah - and 3 yrs ago he was asking $110k for it when he purchased the 38 Hustler (a newer boat) for $125k.

I PISSED MY PANTS WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT!

berns29scarab 08-26-2007 02:40 PM

he was asking in the $80's or so i believe...wasnt to worried about what he was asking. my boat loan/mortgage rep DAVE P of Essex Credit and i had done some reseach and since Dave and Charlie were friends Dave went and called him and told him he had a buyer. At that time i reseached every other 32 for sale and because of the amount of money that had been spent on the boat made a educated offer...

berns29scarab 08-26-2007 02:43 PM

when he wanted $110k for it i beleive i offered him in the high 70's...Dave assisted me in booking the boat out with the bank as far as legiment retail and loan values and was trying to help both Charlie and i out by putting a buyer and seller together unfortunately it didnt work out
