Who's going to LOTO to watch the OSS Race?

OSS and POPRA will be racing in LOTO on 9/29.

If you want to watch the races from the air, Jamie Russell has two seats available in his Long Ranger helicopter for the LOTO race.

$1000 per seat covers both races.

If you are interested, call Jamie at 281 334 6553.

Griff 08-28-2007 02:13 PM

I'll be there:evilb:

No chopper rides for me though:boat:

Brandon 08-28-2007 02:22 PM

I'll be there but how is this race set-up and where all do they run?

Sean H 08-28-2007 02:27 PM

Ron P 08-28-2007 05:04 PM

Hey Sean, are you involved with this race?

RG, you're going?? Are you bringing a race team and boat? Wow, glad to have you join the fun.

Looks like the Horny Toad is the place to be day and night during this weekend.

Can't wait, this is my first trip to the famous LOTO!

Frequency 08-28-2007 06:26 PM

We're going as well. Will there be a place for boats to raft up to watch the race?

I'm gonna try to show up, maybe with carter31

Rebel_Heart 08-28-2007 10:33 PM

I haven't figured out if the Horney Toad is the best place to watch the race ($60)? Any place outside the course to watch from boats?

im sure there will be a raft up like at the shootout. there is also a small island that would be a good vantage point as well although you would not want to beach a boat on it. have to anchor the boat and swim in.

SinkorSwim 08-29-2007 10:41 AM

Shady Gators!...

We will be there... shuttle in from the HyVee :cool-smiley-011:

Knot 4 Me 08-29-2007 01:13 PM

I'll be there. Should be a great time!

fountain4play 08-29-2007 03:03 PM

We will definately be there...Shady Gators is a good stop and place to view that action...but we'll be watching from the water...There should be several places around the course where you should be able to anchor and tie up...

In2Deep 08-29-2007 06:10 PM

I'll be there. Conveniently, the North end of the course runs right at the entrance to the Gravois...short hop from my house.

I plan on watching from the water.

Ron P 08-29-2007 09:20 PM

From talking to people at LOTO, sounds like they expect about 5000 boats to encircle the course as spectators.

How much of the race can be seen from the Toad? Or is there a better place to watch from land if I'm landlocked?

I can promise this will be one hell of an event. Testing and POPRA racing on Saturday (25K purse if anyone's interested in putting numbers on their boat for the P classes only). Then OSS racing on Sunday.

Hopefully Talk Offshore will be broadcasting live over a local radio station. Can't wait!!!

nick k 08-29-2007 09:43 PM

The Toad is at the 7 mile marker. If they are racing from the 6 to the 9, I would think the view from there wouldn't be bad at all. Should be a good turn out for spectators on the water.

chevyzq8 08-30-2007 10:07 AM

We'll be down, it's my 5-year anniversary so I told the wife I would take her to the races :D

We'll be watching from the water.

Millstone lodge is on the opposite side of the lake from the Toad off of 5 HWY and state road "O" and might be an "ok" place to watch from land. It is being torn down and condos built right now though (construction site). Millstone marina is next to it and might also be a decent place to watch from. i don't know if its allowed to watch from either place though!

by the way we are bringing a boat....BZ

Griz 09-04-2007 08:09 PM

Welcome all from distances a far. The Fin will be a great place to stay for a nice nostolgic ozark resort feel and great proximity. The Toad and Shady Gators will be The clubs to be at. You can walk from Fin. Everybody from other locations on land will be riding shuttles into that area. Dock space at those two clubs will be at an extreme premium, unless you've got the $300 a day/night they'll be getting and already have your reservation in. That area will have many wonderful vantage points to watch the races. If it's windy there'll be a healthy chop in that area of the lake and boat traffic will be heavy if they allow an idle lane near the course. I'm not officially involved, just trying to help.

Bless your heart, Dawn. Looking forward to meeting you in person!

lakeluvr 09-05-2007 09:14 AM

Should be a great event for LOTO. Looking forward to it. About 20 of us locals, have rented a house boat that we will be anchored out somewhere along the course. Should be a blast.

jayhawk261 09-05-2007 10:33 AM

We will be there. We're staying up the lake at the ledges, so we'll have a good drive by water. We are planning to watch by water for the most part assuming that will be allowed. We'll probably buy some tickets as well. Looking forward to a good time! It'll be good to see Straightjacket and Sommerfilesby again too. It's been too long Chi-Town bruthas!
