We did some prop testing on a customers boat yesterday and got some interesting numbers:

Boat is a 36 open 2007 with 2007 275 triple Verados

24 four blade Bravo One

rpm mph gph mpg
3,600 39 26 1.5
4,000 44 30 1.46
4,500 53 38 1.39
5,000 55.5 49 1.13

wide open was 69.6 @ 6,300 rpm

25 three blade Mirage Plus

rpm mph gph mpg
3,500 42 29 1.45
4,000 46 33 1.39
4,500 53 40 1.32
5,000 58.5 51 1.15

wide open was 71.9 @ 6,300 rpm

27 Lab finished 3 blade Mirage Plus
rpm mph gph mpg
3,500 38 21 1.8
4,000 46 30 1.5
4,500 51 38 1.3
5,000 59 48 1.23

wide open was 73.5 @ 6,150

We did the test with 1/3 fuel (140 Gallons) Two people, both directions to average, about a 1 foot chop, 10-12 knot wind. Right at 13,000 lbs as tested, fuel, water, people, gear

We will run similar tests with the triple 300 Verado on a 36 in a week or so. Maybe another 2 mph but less fuel burn. Hopefully the quad testing will be right about the same time as the motors are almost painted.

Finally, we were able to run the lab 27 props. We are still running the 25" motors on the outside engines and just getting baseline before we change them tomorrow.

We have a nice chop with the wind and saw 80.0 on the GPS.

Hopefully more numbers tomorrow and Wednesday after we change the motors.

Kinda ashamed to admit it but it was the first boat I owned, I think a 1988, same trailer too and I paid $12,000 if my mind isn't shot yet. . With a Dol-Fin on the motor and me I was able to just touch 54 mph on Lake Erie.

My friend still owns the boat. I gave up after taking water over the bow too many times rounding Headlands Beach going back to Rutherfords.

Carl

There are some familiar comments.....Headlands Beach and Rutherford's!

Now its summer every day, cars, bikes, boats and women that wear clothes way too small.

I was just back in Ohio over Labor Day visiting my brother John (he owns Suntrol and Custom Tint and even he worked at Springbrook Gardens as a kid, small world indeed) who lives off Vrooman road. Rode motorcycles all weekend, awesome weather and had to stop by Headlands and the new to me rack store on the lake in Fairport, had a beer while fighting the bees.

It was a lot calmer than I remember!!

Can't tell you how many times I was asked by Martha "got your plug in" still a standing joke with my wife. Used to know Marty, Dicky Hersh, and was good friends with Craig Milmine and lots more who I am sure are all still at the Lagoons.

Small world. Like Jer, we have a lift in Mentor Lagoons and live in Fairport Harbor. You could have thrown a rock at our place when you were drinking beer with the bees! :ernaehrung004: Don't charge extra for that! :p

Come to think of it I was throwing rocks at the little bastages. I think they love Corona! Thank God those things can't fly this far.

That is one beautiful boat. I wasnt a fan on the 4 motors hanging off the back, but now that I've had a chance to check it out, U guys did an outstanding job. I also like the availability of how the seating arangement can be done both in front and back. Helm compartment looks good as well. Room for electronics.

Awesome very AWESOME numbers! These numbers with the 4 blade are about right in line with my 2006 38TE Fountain trip 275's with stock 26 Bravo props. Thanks for the bobblehead explaination. My starboard engine is bobbleing around a little more now than when it was new. I think the tie-bar joint has losened up a little. I think I might be able to tighten is back down some but I need to stop by the dealer and compare mine to a new boat. Your tie-rod set up looks awesome though! Best of luck with your boats and hopefully someday I can get a ride on one and drive it. Wife and I want to plan a trip to the keys for thanksgiving again and I know we pass right by your place.

see ya, Mike

Rastinger,

I forgot to say congrats on the Apache. I know the boat from when Austin and then Robert had it and even was trying to figure out how to buy it from Robert when I had the Fountain. In the end I got the Cigarette 38, Pure Pressure, but I wanted that Apache bad.

Did they ever redo the clear coat?

Fever and Jass,

Thanks for the compliments. We will have the second quad in The Ft. Laud show if we finish it without a top. It looks like a Go-fast. If I can't get it done we will take the Ferrari Red one. I will have two L-shape seating boats too. Mike your bobble problem is more than likely the motor mount. Remember the tie bar on the Quad is a one off custom we did, not a Merc part.

Please stop in when you are in the area.

Carl

Carl, thanks I will check it out.

Carl,
I just finished reading the nice article about you and the Cigarette in Hot Boat. We are you going to be in Lauderdale? I want to check out your boats. Thanks Mike
