So, how do I find out which MEFI

I have? The engine is in a 2000 model year boat, 7.4 mpi. The plain 'ol 310 horse one.

Is there a cross reference chart somewhere?

It will say it on the back of the computer.

I looked at what I could through the back of the mounting bracket and did not see anything that would id it. I guess I should have pulled it off to check. I want to get the scan software for a laptop, and they only work on a given mefi.
IIRC, I remember reading that mefi 3 is no longer available new?

They are available as remans only. You can get a stock replacement from Merc., but they are VERY expensive. Anyone who uses them to build aftermarket engines is hanging on to the ones they have.
