I think the Concept 28/30 hull looks very similar to a Cig 28, similar lip on the hull sides, strakes looks the same...

Not with our hulls. The architect is a couple doors down and we run numbers on every boat built, options, HP, etc. etc. We'll adjust the step when needed in layup and blueprinting.

No mention of Ross Focht's OCEAN EXPRESS' (Active, Image, etc) Wondering about the history there. I think he started with a Cougar and got some 'ideas' ?

Any input out there?

Free-surface turbulent flow cfd has not been perfected and is not commonplace at all. F1 cfd analysis by companies like cd-adapco would be the closest but no boatbuilder has a million $ for R & D. Tank testing is still the most effective method of testing and methods for testing high speed stepped hulls and cats are still being studied.

The 40 hustler was a stretched 32 with one step at that 8 ft mark!! The 37 outer limits was a copy of the 40 bottom with a new deck

Amazing history here.

I learned early in that, there are very few original ideas.

Always some good info added to this thread.
It's winter, let's see if anything new pops up.

Statement bought the Pillini Outboard Cat molds.
