'87 Galaxy engine thoughts

hey guys,
First time poster here. Have an '87 18'6" Galaxy with the 130hp GM 4 and am getting engine thoughts in my head. I've always wanted to do something to get more power. I know there are options to get more out of the 4 but I'm thinking I can get a 350 in there and trim tabs on the back and go like stink :D...Any Thoughts?

for the money, id just clean the boat up and sell it in its current form. Take that money and use it as a down payment on something that has what you're looking for. You can only really go "up" from an 87 galaxy.. I used to have one, i loved how itd plane almost instantly but thats just not the right hull for a 350 and higher speeds..

That's what i first thought, but boat prices these days are crazy, even for used stuff

Not true- there are a lot great used boats for sale out there! It's a buyer's market, especially with fuel prices being where they are.
There are some great deals to be had on performance boats, especially since it's the end of the season and some sellers have no interest in paying for winter storage.
I'd look for a boat that already has existing V8 power in it long before investing a lot more money into a conversion on the Galaxy. A good starter boat with V8 power might be a Liberator- I had one and it was a blast. There is a recent thread here on GD.
