You could buy 2 more years within the first 3 years for a total of 7yr. It was around $4000 for 2 motors if it is still availible. Tell us where you came up with that idea. Do you have any experience with Verado's?

2 Verados on a 28' Whaler, one needed a new powerhead in the first season, the other had problems as well. All warranty fortunately. They fixed a lot in the 2008 model year. It is the very high boost and the 2hp per cube that concerns me, not to mention it is a mercury and an outboard. Neither of which have a stellar history. I would sleep better with warranty, even if I never had a problem.

I am in my 3rd year, I was considering buying the extra 2 yrs. What HP were the Whaler Verado's and how many hrs were on them? I am a member of Veradoclub forums and there is a Merc Verado engineer on staff. Alot of the members motors have over a couple thousand hrs with not many issues with powerheads. I hear stories of all brands having problems. Hey if its mechanical I can break it.

I'd rather bleed black and be broke down than have any other outboards hanging off my bracket. I've researched them all extensively. The new Verados are dependable and the dealer network can't be beat.

i spoke to a mercury sales/tech guy at the boat show after they revealed the new 3.4 stroker 300xs and asked him about comparing the two, he said his personal thoughts was there is no comparison, the new xs is more effiecient less weight, alot less in rotating parts to fail and with the little more cubes they gave it gave it more torque for heavier applications. sounded pretty convincing to me. i think for the warranty issue is probably due to the xs's are use alot more in racing applications. i know with cars anything that might be used in racing either has no warrantly or very little
