700s

how turn key are the new 700s, how many hours till rebuild time

dreamboater 09-18-2007 06:46 AM

My Dad has a pair of 700's in a 38 Fountain. They have been turn key for 50 hours or so. The motors are also extremely fuel efficient for 700 HP motors. They idle well, start regardless of temp, cant really say anything bad about them.

Jassman 09-18-2007 06:49 AM

I was told 325-400 hours, depending on maintenance.

The new Merc 700's run great! I was told in the 350-400 hour range too.

Merc Racing told me last week that the maintance schedule on the 700 is the same as that on the 525EFI. The drive schedule is a little better. For some reason i find that hard to believe given it is a blower motor, but technology has come a long way.

Chuck 09-18-2007 10:25 AM

40 problem free hours so far. Run strong, the midrange is great. The maintainence schedual is as everyone else has already stated.

You cannot tell they are blower motors around the docks. You would love them.

How fast is that 36 NT w/ 700's?

omerta one 09-18-2007 10:48 AM

As for the blowers, they really don't run any boost until you're over 3500 rpm. They do idle very smooth and as stated the mid-range is very strong. Beyond the maintenance there is really no comparison to the 525's.

thanks for all the info

I think you should change your tag line to one of the two:

1. Dealer

or

2. Collector

You've got the market of Nortec's purchased and sold :D

I forget the #'s but from what he said on the Jammin on the James run about fuel used was frickin amazing!!

During poker run speeds he was getting a touch better than 1 mpg. The poker run was 180 miles or so both ways, according to smart craft which we also calculated by hand he could have ran both ways and had 40 gallons total left over. Not bad for blower motors!!
