Need your advice

We have our first child due in Feburay and my wife would like to take some time off work, the only way that can happen is if I sell my boat. I have tried Boattrader Online, Speed Wake, e-bay and Criegs List. I have it priced lower than I said I would go and still no solid bites. I work for a local boat builder and have taken great care if this boat, and have a lot of time invested durring the 3 years I've owned it. I still love the boat and not sure what to do. Do I list it here on OSO? Wait till spring? Please any advice will help... 1990 Scarab CV

The only luck I ever had was on OSO. And by the way, nice Scarab, bet it does great on those poker runs.:cool-smiley-026:

Sold several right here on OSO classifieds.

List it on OSO. Put a post up in Scarab section asking others to keep an eye out for anyone in the market for one.(after you list it on OSO) Good luck:ernaehrung004:

Keep boat get a second job. After 3 months she will be begging to go back to work.

MitchStellin 09-18-2007 09:12 PM

Yup, suck it up for a few months, if you feel the boat is irreplaceable, otherwise let her go and use this as a bargaining chip for the new BIGGER boat. It would be worth the wait, for during the first year you will not be doing much but enjoying your new child and helping your wife...... this is a free ticket to move up.:ernaehrung004:

All good points. I would love to find a secound job that would fund this voyage, but I don't think it will happen. In Michigan most people are lucky to have 1 good job.. I will list it here tomorrow and see what happens. Very nice boat for the money. Makes me said to see the 22' Scarabs sell from 16,000.00 to 18,000.00 all day long. Not even half the boat.....

Good looking boat. I think its priced right. If you can hold on I'd try and sell it in the spring. Good luck.

What boat builder do you work for?

Griff 09-18-2007 11:16 PM

I sold my last 2 boats to OSO members and my last 2 boats were purchased from the OSO classifieds. enuff said.

OSO all the way. Thats a cool Scarab you got there. Its like a mini sit-down boat. I dont think you could really sell anything on Speedwake.

Jigsaw89 09-19-2007 12:41 AM

Good lookin' boat!

I'd do as previously mentioned... advertise on OSO & seek out a second job. Eventually it will sell. You have until the middle of January to make some extra cash. Don't be lazy & Good Luck!!

Also, if you want to give it a try, www.midwestboatparty.com has classifieds. A lot of the members don't frequent OSO a lot.

PM sent..
Very cool boat!

DON"T DO IT!! Once the boats gone it won't ever be back! Let her stay home 6 mo. then send her ass back to work! I told my ex that I would sell ours too, but it didn't sell. We ended up getting a bigger boat the next spring and took the baby with us.

Like everyone else said, list it here. i sold my last boat here and bought my current boat here.

open87 09-25-2007 11:29 AM

congrats on becoming a future father! that in itself is a second job..

i noticed a week or so ago that the # of boats listed on OSO jumped from around 1200 to over 1400 listings..

really nice looking piece...good luck!!!

Good looking boat. I seriously considered coming up to look at it myself but never got around to it and ended up buying something else.

Chris Sunkin 09-25-2007 12:24 PM

I KNOW I'll get flamed for this...

Another boat is something you can always get. A mother being with her baby for the first couple of years is irreplaceable. The boat went just weeks before my wife's delivery- not so much over the expense but the time spent wrenching and running the thing. By the time my 2nd was 2, we had another boat- not a race boat but a fun, fast, easy to use dayboat. Before long, all four of us wanted to go faster on bigger water. I had allies, not adversaries.

kmiller 09-25-2007 12:38 PM

I know the right thing to do is to sell the boat, but I keep getting low ball offers. I feel the boats is worth what I'am asking and then some. I will list on OSO this friday if this current offer falls through... Also thanks for all the replies and advice, OSO members have helped me a ton in the last few years.

Please let me know if I should change any thing on my listing? Is it to long or to much info....

Thanks Kyle
