Congrats on your new boat! Those were my props and Matt and Julie at Throttle Up worked them and they were perfect. You have a great wave basher and those motors of Tommy's are very strong. Enjoy. NK

No tricks to it- tabs level, drives out a touch, push on the sticks, mash waves.
The pleasure Apache is a much better wave-crusher than the race version. All that extra weight helps- that's your payback for the loss of top end. |

Nice thing about Apaches is they they don't snap in two, delaminate, spin out, or sink like other brands.

You gotta' be pretty hardcore about this sport to want to own an Apache. I'm guessing at least 50% or more of the Apache owners in the US are on this website. Just about every boat is known by name, who bought it first, where it's been and who has it now. Name any other brand you could say that about. For 15 years, I've been trolling everywhere on the web looking at whatever I could find about Apache's. I've been to every website on the planet that deals with Apache helicopters and Apache server software.
I'm on my 4th. 28, 36, '85 41 and now an '87. He's an Outerlimits owner. He can't understand why we would own one of these antiquated boats... He said; "you can go out and get a new boat with stock power that runs 10-15 mph faster than what you have"..... blahhh blahhh blahhhh blahhh... Sometimes people don't understand that not everybody buys a boat because it can run a number... If that were the case you wouldn't see old Camaro's, Covettes, Cobra's and Mustangs on the road. After all these years there's still a market for them....that in itself says something... People like them and they're somewhat rare so there will always be a market for them! |
If your getting a 41 APACHE get one with #6'S.

Easy for you to say... |
What Apache is about. Crusing along in some ruff water a 38' top of the line offshore passes you maybe 5MPH faster at the most. The ladys in the rear seat are bouncing up to the top of there swim suit bottoms. Your son looks over at you with a dumfounded perplexed facial expression. Shruges his shouldes we are not even on our toes were standing flat footed. I speed up just to match their progres. My son looks at me again with the same expression. About that time I see air under the a$$es of the pasengers in the rear seat of the offshore. The boat slows down soon after that as I maintain speed going through the same stuff it feels as though I am standing on concret.
When I look back and remember moments like this and speak of them to others most dont believe or think I am braging. The bottom line is that every time I hit rough water I am as amazed as others are in disbelief. Maybe I ve said too much |

I've been in that boat twice this summer. First time out with the fresh power at 4 lbs. of boost on dead flat water, seen 85 on a hand held GPS I was in it.
After seeing the dyno sheets with 8 lbs. of boost and some 110 in it, there's no doubt in my mind that this boat will run about 90, as long as you put some bigger wheels on it. 2nd time out there were 5-6 ftrs on lake Michigan, and we were "crushing" waves, still running in the mid 80's. Will it see 90?? Sure it will with a pulley change, 2 pitch bigger props, and some 110 fuel. Just a few minor touches.:D A few pics from earlier this summer. |
Damn Frank! You get to have all the fun!!

The bottom line is that every time I hit rough water I am as amazed as others are in disbelief. Maybe I ve said too much We came back Sunday, just a short 5 or 6 mile run, in some rougher water with two other boats. We left after they did, securing anchors, etc. We passed the 31' up. They could only do 2500RPM and the lake was kicking their butt. The 35' Cafe that was with us said he kept looking for us and didn't see us, didn't see us and then all of a sudden he's pulling into the channel and bam, there we were. The faster we ran, the better the boat ran. It's screaming at us to run at 4500RPM's in rough water. It's amazing how quickly this boat let's you know where she's comfortable at. That's something Rob and I both noticed within the first week of owning our boat. And our feet never left the ground! :ernaehrung004: |

A friend of mine has a 41 for sale that is a full pleasure with 650s or maybe 675s with 3s. Very clean, similar to the one at Shogrens. The boat is maybe a 70mph boat. I can't believe that 100 or 150 more hp will give the boat 20mph especially a 41 full pleasure. I wish it was that easy!!

With your flyweight, the 3 isn't a problem. On a full pleasure hull doing holeshots or sloppy re-entrys with more than 750's, you're asking for trouble.

Offshore:
Those engines were advertised as being 725's by Lukovich about 3-4 years ago. That boat was in the detroit area for $ 75,000. The trailer was trashed- rusted. Wanabe |

http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o16407-en.html You're right on speed. The first ad for the Apache pleasure boat talked about 650's pushing the boat to 70. 650's were monsters in '84! If I remember, the boat in the ad went to Kevin Brown in Cleveland. |

Good question. How about the 2006 that is for sale? Anyway I'm looking for a 41 and I know you have toyed with selling yours the last couple years. |
How do the 41 Apaches compair to the 38 Flat Deck Cigs or has this already been beat to death?

You guys are killing me!!! If I could only afford to fuel and maintain an Apache.... Anybody around my neck of the woods care to give an Apache nut a ride??? Pretty please!

That's what I had prior to my 1st 41. They take more power to go the same speed- probably 150 or so per engine. In anything beyond 3', they're 5 to 15 MPH faster with the same ride, I.E. if the Cig can run comfortably at 45 in 4' waves, the Apache can run 55 to 60. Very similar bottom- the Apache just has more mass and the additional length.
Thanks for putting things in perspective. |
