Most race boats will not go 200 miles on fuel.
True, todays race boats aren't built to go the distance. In the "old days" offshore racing was on a long course. I remember when the Point Pleasant NJ race went from Manasquan Inlet, a couple laps up and down the beach front, up to mid Long Island and back. A single race took about 8-9 hours to run. Look at Don Aronow's #1 The Cigarette, it had 5 fuel tanks. Two on each side (outboard) of the engines and one centerline, forward of the cockpit. With races like that speed isn't everything. You have to learn to manage the fuel and really navigate. Fuel efficiency is more important than raw HP in that case.
