In NC its just a fine and does not go on your driver's license and does not hamper insurance. Check to see it its the case here.........it might be better to pay the fine and forget it rather than to hire an attorney pay him and the fine.

there is a thread down in the loto/midwest section...

i believe the first one is 500, second 1000 and the third is a felony.

The first one is $600 and a slap on the wrist. Attorney fee is approx. $400 on top of that. Doesn't go on your driving record, but probably looking at 2 years probation. Even with an attorney you have to show up for court. Or so I've been told.
