Default Checkmate is Back!

I have to say the new boats that just came in are pretty nice. All new Mcleod interior and the gel work is sweet.

Good luck to the new Checkmates.Sold a lot of them back in the 70's.Hopefully Doug Smith will bring them back to their former glory,as they do deserve it. 40+ years with the same owner means they were doing lots of things right.

I saw some of these at the Norwalk boat show and they have definitely improved A LOT. The interiors are beautiful. We have a 98 21 ft Pulsair and these new boats put the older ones to shame.

Looks good. It is about time they did something with the interiors.

Love these boats. A friend has a 2000 259 and back around 2002 I looked seriously at buying the mid/open 270. Still, I see the need for improvements in the following areas:

Dash - never been a fan of how the gauge layouts look.

Finished Edges - need to figure out how to get rid of that rivoted on trim around the dash area. Looks CHEAP.

Hull - fast hulls but porpoise horribly unless you are running well over 40 MPH.

Windshield - Never been a fan of the stubby windshield. Either put a full windshield on it or better yet, offer a full windshield, stubby windshield for the purists, and a fairing. I would love to see a fairing option.

GSC, good luck with your new product line!
