Coming from the "left" coast..As for some of the few that do take there boat out on Lake Pacific...we have "right" coast boats....what can I say....

I'll try to be marginally helpful to the actual intent of the thread. I've seen a few really nice west coast boats (that big Nordic, LaveyCraft, Larry Smith) but all in all, most west coast boats are flat water boats. And even the big ones are flat water boats!

I saw a photo in Hot Boat recently and it looked like the stringers on one of the west coast boats were just plywood that was screwed or glued to the bilge floor!

And for the record, the last lake I boated on was named Ontario.

Well, technically there isn't, but man you should have seen the look on the manager's face when I fired up the boat in the Motel 6 swimming pool! :D :D :D

I never understood the paint / get splattered bilges. Why would someone do that? Do they think it looks good, or is it covering something up?

As for the carpet, I once owned a Crownline with the wonderful plywood / carpet combo - right into the engine compartment. NEVER again will I buy a boat with non-removable carpet.

East Coast Only the way to GO

Actually the best boats are built in the Midwest. Skater and MTI are a couple that come to mind. :food-smiley-007:

East Coast.......North East coast to be specific. Built to Run through the big stuff, but fast enough to run in the flat stuff as well. No plywood anywhere, in fact no wood at all any where, just Carbon and epoxy.

North East... You mean like East Coast, North Miami! :D
